Rev. Cortes has spent decades working to empower Hispanic communities through faith, education, economic development, and advocacy. Since its founding in 1987, Esperanza has grown from a small housing counseling ministry into one of Philadelphia’s leading Hispanic, faith-based nonprofits — supporting families and children in North Philadelphia through education, housing counseling, workforce development, economic and community revitalization, immigration legal services, arts and music education, and civic engagement initiatives.
Since launching in 2000, Esperanza Academy Charter School has provided quality education in North Philadelphia. What began as a single high school has grown into a full K–12 campus. What started with 125 students now serves over 2,235 students annually with the opening of its new elementary school.
Listen in—and prepare to be inspired.
